Swirlydoos Dec Challenge Number ONE

I did this layout for the December SGC Winter White +1

I built it on an acrylic base and went from there! Fancy Pants Road Show papers and Basic Grey basics, Creative Imaginations snowflakes and Prima flowers.

I covered the snowflakes with Distress Crackle Paint in Rock Candy then coated them in Diamond Dust then used Glimmer Mist in Lily Pad on top of that.

I did a new technique on the Fragments. I used clear Embossing ink and stamped a snowflake on the pieces, then I used white embossing powder and heated the fragments. While heating, the fragments melted and look like ice cubes!

I also used clear embossing powder with the clear ink on the top right and I highlighted them with clear crystals.

Thanks for looking!

Alcohol Ink and Grungepaper

So, I wanted to type up a little post here using alcohol inks and Grungepaper!

This month's Scraps of Darkness kit includes 6 sheets of Grungepaper in the Grunge Add-on, I love Grungepaper and wanted to share this quick and easy technique!

You will need:

Grungepaper element

Alcohol inks

Blending solution

Applicator

Crackle accents

Squeeze a good amount (2 seconds) of ink onto the applicator. I also used a couple drops of silver mixative. I added a bit of blending solution and tapped the ink onto the element.

I coated the edges with Crackle Accents. That activated with the silver mixative and turned the crackle medium orange, which actually turned out pretty cool!

Alcohol ink dries very quickly, but with the Blending Solution, you can manipulate it and make the color just what you want!

Thanks for visiting my blog!!

Oh, and I cut the elements with the Oct. 31 Limited Edition Cricut Cart!

Happy Creating!

Chocolate Baby Cake

More of the GREAT August kit from Scraps of Darkness. I used Petaloo flowers and loaded them with Distress Stickles. (Vintage Photo and Antique Linen on the flowers and Faded Jeans on the alphas.)

The only thing here not in the kit are the Prima alphas.

I drew my own vines with the Smooch. Eh, I don't know if I will do that again!

Reveal Day Scraps of Darkness

Forever.

Edward and Bella.

You know, I am not really as obsessed with Twilight as some, but I think that they are gorgeous together. :)

I did a slightly cheaty version of the 'Wet Distress Technique' that I call the Glimmer Distress Technique. I used Glimmer Mist in dazzling diamond to get the bg paper wet, then I scruched it up with my hands. and blasted it with the heat gun. Then, I used Smooch Ink in Siren and fired brick Distress Ink over the scrunches.

I used Smooch Illuminate over the alphas. I got this font off the tubes and cut it with the Cricut. :)

Forever

The August Kit for Scraps OF Darkness is awesome! :) My favorite colors and the bonus of having pps you can mist or ink to the colors of your choice!

This is my first layout, Bad Girl. I am putting this in the challenge on scrapbook.com.. Using Mandy's awesome sketch and the new SOD kit, how could it go wrong?

I used the feather boa to make a puffy soft flower and attached the flower with Aleen's Tacky Glue. I put a silver medallion in the middle and used a clear pebble on top.

I did a lot of inking and could not decide on the right side what to do!

For the word girl, I used the rub on alphas on a piece of scrap and then simply cut them apart and ran the edges over Fired Brick Distress Ink.

1986 ~Swirlydoos Butterfly Challenge Layout~

For Angelica's August butterfly challenge. :D

I made the big butterfly by cutting it out with the Cricut, first Grungepaper, then the Vocab BG paper in the kit. I used Gesso on the GP to adhere the pp to it, then inked it with Distress Ink in Walnut Stain and Tumbled Glass. I then coated it with a thin coat of Glossy Accents and sprinkled Diamond Dust on it to make it sparkle!

I used alcohol inks on the flourish and I sprayed the little paper butterflies with Smooch Spritz in Log Cabin and Glimmer Mist in Patina.

I did the scallop border with ol reliable..Threading Water punch.

TFL everyone!

Kaisercraft Altered Drawer Set.

SO, I got the drawer set at camp and didn't finish it time....mostly cause I don't really alter stuff! It is so difficult!

My great hubby added a base to it to make it a bit sturdier and to accommodate the Idea-ology Tim Holtz metal feet.

I used black acrylic paint, G45 Romantique papers, Prima pearls flourishes, Tim Holtz idea-ology feet and keyholes and keys and hitch fasteners, Dusty Attic chip keyholes, Glimmer Mist in Slate, Patina, Flower Power and Vintage Pink, Smooch Spritz in Gold Glow, Glitz Design Distress Stamp, Making Memories tiny alpha letters. I sealed the box by Kaisercraft with Mod Podge.

Paris

A Swirlydoos August kit layout. I just wanted to play with the Eiffel Tower really...hehee!!

It was a beotch though a bit, there are 7 different alcohol inks, 2 colors of Smooch Spritz and 2 colors of Glimmer Mist on this! I just kept adding and then spraying to get it right!

Okay, I am having a serious love affair with Fragments. I was so excited to see that they were available with the kit and HAD to get them! I first inked one side with Hazelnut, Pebble and Silver Mixative alcohol ink. I used a Glitz stamp to stamp the words onto a Journal Card and glued it to the fragment. :) (The skinny ones I used a different stamp underneath, still a Glitz one.)

I cut Paris with the Cricut out of Prima packaging. :D

Swirlydoos August Sketch Challenge

Okay, so I don't ALWAYS get this one done, but August's sketch was just amazing! I had to do it quickly!

For the little CI birdie, I used Denim and Shell alcohol ink and a little blending solution. I put a light coat of Glossy Accents over that then while still wet, sprinkled some Diamond Dust on the belly of the bird. :)

The TINY white flowers I painted with Shimmerz, then dropped a few drops of alcohol ink on them.

Thanks!

I love the July Swirlydoos kit! So much pretty!! :D

So, I decided to pretty overload! This is an Eclipse still. I think it is the best one yet.

I wanted to focus on the gate as far a technique. I first inked it with Walnut Stain Distress ink, then used Emerald Sprinkle and Log Cabin Smooch Spritz. The I used a Perfect Medium Pen to ink places I wanted Perfect Pearls to be sprinkled, I used Rust. Then, I little embossing ink and powders in Puffy White and Gold.

I will try to get better pics as the weather improves!

Mountain Man GRRRRR

This is my super guy, Kel. I love him to bits...except, this mountain man look drives me bonkers!
I used Feb and Dec Swirlydoos kit items for this.
I covered the deer in Antique Linen Distress Crackle Paint then I rubbed it with Walnut Stain Distress Ink; the large heart is Fired Brick and Walnut Stain Distress with Broken China Distress Stickles; the smaller one is SEI chalk ink and Broken China and Fired Brick Distress Stickles. WHEW!
I distressed the edges and used WS Distress again. I also sprayed the blue paper with Patina and Sapphire Glimmer Mist.
I painted the cardboard piece with the Crackle Paint then went over it with Fired Brick Distress.
I misted the snowflakes with Brick Glimmer Mist.

Snowy Weekend....what to do??? Oh yeah...SCRAP!

Ok, SO I got a TEENSY bit embellie happy with this one!
This lo is for a challenge at Swirlydoos to scrap what you love about yourself!
I love that I know who I am. I am crazy, nutty, loyal, indesisive, easy goin...all that and more.
I used the chipboard as a mask with Turquoise Blue Glimmer Mist, then I used the hearts against it. I sprayed the hearts with Cherry Red Smooch Spritz and Brick Glimmer Mist. I also used the Spritz on the FABULOUS metal embellie that I won from Bonnie just for hanging out and posting at Swirlydoos! YES!
The only items NOT from Swirlydoos are the felt Prima vine and the Maya Road little birdie (I colored it with Siren Smooch.
Prima bling, centers and e line pearls are all over this!
Plus the ADORABLE snowflakes...love those!
Swirlydoos rocks the house with scrappy goodness no doubt!

Sunday, January 24, 2010

This is my layout for the Febuary sketch challenge at Swirlydoos. I LOVE the Prima 12x12 canvas! I used some artists' Gesso to "paint" a bit on the canvas before tearing it up with Distress Inks and Glimmer Mist. I used Spiced Marmalade and Faded Jeans Distress Inks along with Glimmer Mist in Sapphire and Tuscan Sun.
I inked the fabulous heart tile with Distress Ink (Faded Jeans), Smooch (Navy), Glimmer Mist (Tuscan Sun), Smooch Spritz (Gold Glimmer and Distress Stickles (Spiced Marmalade).
I used some Kaisercraft bling to accent the heart and I covered the bottom leafy chip piece in ink, Glimmer Mist and Distress Stickles.
I covered the title alphas in Antique Linen Distress Crackle Paint, then went over the words
with Distress Ink.
This awesome sketch is from Beggahuna, she is so talented!
I think my next lo should be messier. :p
